Solutions Lab 2010 - Boston

Launching the next generation of environmentally sustainable business

  • Network with peers and industry leaders
  • Learn and share new ideas and strategies for expanding profitability while greening your products, services and processes
  • Create green solutions for your business

Microsoft, the Pew Center on Global Climate Change, Environmental Defense Fund, Ashoka and Net Impact Boston invite you to participate in the Green Innovation in Business Network (GIBN) 2010 Boston Solutions Lab which provides an unparalleled opportunity to learn from and with your colleagues about how to advance environmentally sound practices in your business while saving money and increasing profits.

If you’re a Net Impact professional chapter member in good standing, please see the Net Impact Boston website for details on receiving a registration discount or contact Asheen with any questions.

While we encourage a range of themes and interests suggested by participants, the central theme we’ll address in this Solutions Lab is how companies are overcoming the barriers to energy efficiency.  Participants will share how they are capturing cost savings and greenhouse gas reductions from energy efficiency today, and work together to generate new ideas and solutions that they can take home and apply in their own companies. We’ll bring together experts in energy efficiency from leading companies, financial institutions, NGOs, and government agencies to ensure a high-value experience for all. You can find an agenda for the Boston Solutions Lab on our Boston wiki page.

Some of the topics you can expect to discuss at the Boston Solutions Lab:

·         How do you make the business case for energy efficiency in a way that will resonate with senior management?

·         What are creative ways of financing energy efficiency investments?

·         What can be done to improve energy efficiency in leased office spaces?

·         How do you find enough staff resources to implement energy efficiency strategies?

·         What’s the best way of aligning energy efficiency incentives across departments?

·         What’s needed to form effective cross-cutting energy efficiency teams?

·         How do you best leverage partnerships with government agencies, nongovernmental organizations, trade associations and other companies to make progress on energy efficiency?

·         What are the connections between water conservation and energy efficiency? What are strategies that can advance the twin goals of saving water and energy?

·         What are innovative ways of working with suppliers on energy efficiency?

·         How can you best engage employees on energy efficiency efforts?

The 2010 Boston Solutions Lab is the ninth in a ten-event series hosted by leading businesses including Microsoft, eBay, Bloomberg, eBay and Best Buy. Participants from last year's unconferences reported that the events provided them with an invaluable opportunity to network and share ideas with other innovators who are leading sustainability efforts in their companies.

For a list of the innovators who attended the 2009 events, please visit the attendee page of the Green Innovation in Business Network Wiki.

We would like to encourage participants to share rides and take public transportation when possible. To post ride needs and offers, please visit the public transportation and ride share page for Boston on the GIBN wiki for more information about ride-sharing and public transportation options to this event.

*The Solutions Labs are designed using a unique format in which participants guide the content of the day based on their most pressing needs and interests. We will use your input to frame the sessions, prioritizing time for networking, idea generation, and the development of action-oriented next steps.
